A Toothbrush with Built-in Toothpaste Invented

A toothbrush with built-in toothpaste, invented by a PhD dentistry student in oral and dental health majoring in the SBMUSchool of Dentistry, has been patented in Iran Patent & Trademark Office.

Dr. Nona Attaran Kakhki, the inventor, stated that the excessive use of toothpaste and probably swallowing it is one of the common problems, especially among preschoolers and even primary school children having started to use fluoridated toothpastes, which causes flourosis and permanent changes in tooth color. The basic idea of this invention comes from overexposure to fluoride in children.

The project of built-in toothpaste began in September 2013 and approved by Iran Patent & Trademark Office in March 2014. This type of toothbrush has been invented for the first time in the world. Basically, a toothbrush with a toothpaste capsule built into the back of brush bristles which forces the standard size of the paste with the press of a button. This type of toothbrush cab be sterilized; brush bristles can be easily washed and cleaned after removal of the toothpaste capsules. This helps to remove paste from the bristles and prevent contamination which has an effective role to reduce microbe transmission via bristles.
